In 2020, a group of mothers of professional basketball players came together. Recognizing how their united resources—skills, experience, and maternal love—could serve children, families, and communities across the country, they were inspired to explore creating an organization.

The founding mothers, Wanda, Paddy, and Jennifer, consulted with an attorney to develop a plan, and in 2021, O.U.R. Mothers, a national 501(c)3 nonprofit, was born.

Since its creation, O.U.R Mothers has been dedicated to positively impacting the community.

We will assist and work tirelessly with schools, community stakeholders, other non-profit organizations, local businesses, and the local legislature to address the various educational and social needs of children, families, and communities.

We will share our stories of how we instilled lifelong values—dedication, hard work, commitment, and the importance of work ethic—in our sons and daughters as they journeyed to become professional athletes, and we will encourage, empower, and equip other children, families, and communities to do the same. Our stories are a testament to the possibilities of unlocking their paths to greatness.

Living out our motto, we are “empowering minds to change lives.”

O.U.R. Mothers exists to make a lasting, measurable impact on the lives of children, families, and communities through effective initiatives focused on educational and social programs, mental health awareness, and mentorship.

We are committed to igniting the spark that empower minds to change lives.

We envision a world where children, families, and communities, regardless of their circumstances or surroundings, have the opportunity to flourish mentally, emotionally, socially, and academically. We are dedicated to realizing this vision by:

Adopting Classrooms: We will adopt and support classrooms in underserved communities, providing essential resources, mentorship, and guidance to both students and educators.

Mentorship: We will actively recruit community stakeholders who will serve as mentors, guiding youth based on their interests and career goals. Through mentorship, we aim to inspire young minds to reach their potential.

Mental and Emotional Health Awareness: We are committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental and emotional health concerns. With professional assistance, we will help to provide resources, create safe spaces for discussion, and support initiatives that promote emotional well-being.

Reading Advocacy: Recognizing the transformative power of reading, we will emphasize the importance of books, reading, and literacy.

Community Engagement: We will actively engage with communities, fostering unity and togetherness. Through our collective efforts, we aspire to help create stronger and more resilient communities.

If you give, get. If you learn, teach.
